Alexander Kail stood on deck, looking out at the sea. It was evening and the ocean was relatively calm. Most of the men were relaxing, playing card games, gambling and talking. They let the light wind take them where it would, with only minimal guidance.

"There's a ship!" came a yell, "Just North of us!"

Alexander ran to the men, "Get to you positions, we have company! Keep the guns hidden, but get ready to fire them if and when I give the order!" he ran out on deck, looking out at the horizon, waiting for the first sign of the other ship.

Sure enough the ship that was spotted was a Colonial Ship which was commanded by Admiral James Lexington. He was unsure of this ship, for he had not seen it before and his sailors had bent every sail so that they could catch up with the ship. The 49 guns of the ship were ready as they turned and headed towards the opposing ship. " All hands on deck! " James yelled as he turned the wheel south-southwest to level up on the opposing ships right side.

Alexander walked to the side of the deck as the ships leveled alongside each other. "Well, Im not very good at introductions, but I might as well try; I am Captain Alexander Kail of 'The Gentleman'." He shouted across to the man on the other ship, the other man was obviously the Captain. "What is your name and which mighty ship do I have in my sights here?" Alexander laughed, inconspicuously eyeing the guns, guessing their power and speed.

James was by now standing on the deck as he looked across the short distance between the ships. " I am Captain James Lexington of the Alyssa of the Colonial Navy. I am ordering that your ship come to a halt so that we are allowed to board. I have seen your ship before but not you. " He said calmly as he placed his hand on his sword hilt slowly the guns of his ship at the ready with Marines in the crows nests to snipe anyone on the deck.

"Why would you wish to board my ship? I have done you no harm, have I?" Alexander asked, "If I or my crew are violating any law, we are very sorry. I have only recently arrived here, competition has grown dramatically in England, so we came here.

He nodded but his resolution was still the same. " I am indeed sorry for you, however, i still am going to search your ship. You either allow us to do so or your ship will be fired upon and then bored with hostile intentions. If you let us board now none of your men shall be harmed. " He said calmly as he awaited an answer.

"Very well, but don't mess anything up!" Alexander said, "If you do, I'll get you personally to pay for any damage done!" Alexander stepped back and moved towards the door to the 'stores' of the ship.

James nodded to his men and they through hooks across onto the other ship. Ten sailors swung across as James did the same. His ship was very close to the side of Alexanders and a few rifles were tossed over. ' So tell me. " He asked Alexander. " Who do you sail for? "

"At the moment, I am sailing nowhere." Alexander replied, "I found nobody in Boston who needed my services, so I left there and am out here on my way to find somebody who has need of a merchant ship. However, I do have some good wine here, I bought it there and intend to sell it at whereever I end up." Alexander smiled and stepped through the doorway, putting four fingers up to his men and dropping one to make three, keeping his hand hidden from James and his men.

He nodded as a few more Marines swung over to the ship and were handed rifles as the other Marines continued to scope out the deck. " Well you don't see to many private ships now adays. And defiantly not armed ships such as yours. " He said as he looked in the cabin for a moment. " This seems more of a pirate ship to me. Let me see your arm. " He said calmly.

Alexander started to put out his arm before he stopped, throwing himself sideways, rolling and standing up again, his musket sat comfortably in his left hand and he quickly pulled out his sword, balancing it in his right. He stood ready as his men pulled out and fired their muskets at James and some of his men.

As Alexander pulled his sword and his pistol James stepped out of the line of fire whipping out his pistol and shooting one of Alexander's men in the chest before he brought his sword down towards Alexander. Three marines fell from the musket fire from Alexander's men.The Marines in the crows nest of the Alexis opened fire on the deck shooting many as they also tossed grenades onto the deck. The 24 cannons that were facing Alexander's ship opened fire.

One of the pirates fell dead from the grenades, another wounded and two others dead from musketfire. Alexander deflected James's sword and pointed musket at him. Alexander fired a shot before swinging his sword around at James. "Move the ship away! Side-on combat is too risky!" Alexander shouted to his men. The pirates obeyed and the ship started to pull away.
